Every macOS release arrives with a long feature list and a shorter list of things that actually change your day. macOS 27 is no exception. After two weeks of living with the beta, these are the changes we keep noticing.

Window management finally feels native

The new tiling shortcuts are subtle but sticky. Drag a window to the edge and the preview now shows the full resulting layout instead of a generic half-screen hint. More importantly, the system remembers arrangements per display, so a laptop-plus-monitor setup survives a reconnect.

Notifications get a volume knob

You can now set a delivery cadence per app: immediate, batched, or 'when I'm free.' It sounds small. It is the single biggest quality-of-life improvement in the release.

Spotlight becomes a little more agentic

Spotlight can now chain simple actions — find a document, summarize it, and send the summary to a contact — but only with apps that opt in. It's a preview of where the platform is heading, and a reminder that local context is becoming the battleground.

The best macOS features are the ones you stop noticing after a week because they simply became the way things work.
